SOCIOLOGY ACTIVITY

“ People without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture are like a trees without roots” –Marcus Garvey. On 12 May 2015, a sociology activity was conducted in the Activity room by the students of class XI-F on theme Culture and traditions of India(Indian culture). The comperers Vishwani and Ishrita invited Abhas and Kritika for an introductory note that emphasised on the great cultural variations in India present in India, and how despite it all, we are all united in our diversity. Abhas recited the ‘Adhan’- The Islamic call to prayer which symbolised the religious diversity of India followed by the Indian folk dance that included elements of both Gujarati and Marathi dance. The participants were DikshaSagar, Muskaan Sinhmar, Neetu and Hemlata. The dance was upheld as a beautiful and graceful depiction of the variance in cultures within our nation. Ms. Sumita, section incharge senior wing , encouraged the participants. This activity was enlightening for all those involved as it gave them fresh perspective on the multiplicity of traditions in India.IMG_3531 IMG_3533 IMG_3534 IMG_3537 IMG_3541
