IMG-20150702-WA0001 Vanmahotsav was organized by Navjyoti Foundation on 1st July 2015 in which members of the student council from Ryan International School Sohna Road took part. It was a wonderful occassion that brought all the stake holders in environment conservation together. The event was graced by Dr. Kiran Bedi and the event started off with the lighting of the traditional lamp. A pictorial presentation was shown to the gathering followed by a video that was shown to brief the audience about the basic idea behind the project. Ms. Chandni from Navjyoti Foundation further elucidated on the agenda of the event which was the ‘Project to Revive Aravali’. The wonderful audio-visual displays were followed by a discussion by a panel which consisted of Dr. Kiran Bedi, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Satyaprakash, Sr. Advocate Mr. Raj Panjwani and designated environmentalists. The discussion started off by establishing that this project aims to make Aravalis greener, cleaner and safer for future generations. Dr. Kiran Bedi emphasised on how 15th July should be declared as a special date in which residents from various villages will come up and own up to the responsibilty to plant trees. Many interesting ideas were put into focus by the rest of the panelists as well. The discussion was followed by a question answer interaction session in which concerned students and citizens expressed their queries and thoughts on the project. The gathering was then asked to move to the Damdama Govt. School where the plantation took place. Following the vision of our esteemed Chairman Sir, Dr. A. F. Pinto, our students took active part in the plantation drive and put forth the idea that each student of the government school should be given a tree as their responsibility to ensure the well being of all the saplings that were planted. It was an enlightening and educational experience for the students and it encouraged them to contribute towards this wonderful initiative taken up by the Navjyoti Foundation.
